The measures to be carried out were determined with the responsible staff of the municipality during a tour of the Eichbühl building. The aim was to bring the systems in every area up to the latest state of the art, and thus to install an infrastructure in terms of technology, ease of maintenance and operation, and occupational safety that will guarantee safe operation for years to come.
Cloud-based process control system
The centerpiece is the new control cabinet, which contains the complete measurement, control and regulation technology. Also integrated is the new touch panel, from which all plant components can be controlled and monitored. For this purpose, the cloud-based process control system ARAbella online was used, with which the operation for the customer was significantly simplified via graphical interfaces.
Innovative cleaning system
Furthermore, the sensors in the rainwater tank, such as the level measurements, were renewed and a STEBAjet was installed, which ensures that the tank can be flushed at a sufficiently high level so that no unpleasant deposits are found during dry weather phases.
Safety first
To increase safety for the staff, the exhaust air system was adapted. A traffic light now indicates when the air exchange has reached the minimum requirement of twenty times the volume. This serves as a release, of course still not without the necessary protective equipment, for access to the rainwater tank.
This additional visual signaling makes it easier for the customer to perceive the state of the atmosphere directly before entering the EX-zone. STEBATEC supports the safety of the workers with such improvements.
The light in the rainwater tank is now also switched on automatically as soon as the floor gate is opened.
Modern alarm system
The upgrade to the modern STEBalarm alarm system also pays off for the customer. The alarms can now be divided into different priority groups, which has the advantage of reducing the number of emergency calls to a minimum, as only alarms that could endanger safe operation are sent out.
The operator can call up the entire alarm history in the process control system at any time and take appropriate action.
Accident prevention and protection of employees
The last point to be mentioned here is the numerous improvements in occupational safety. All ladders were replaced and equipped with access aids that comply with the current SUVA recommendations. Where necessary, gas pressure springs were retrofitted to make it easier to open the heavy lids. The fall protection devices for accessing the shafts and pools were also improved and renewed.
After the successful handover of the overhauled Eichbühl and Hünegg sites to the municipality of Hilterfingen, STEBATEC has another satisfied customer.
