A quantum leap in plant control
The demands placed on a modern wastewater treatment plant are high: processes must be precisely monitored, controlled and optimized to ensure reliable and energy-efficient wastewater treatment. As part of a comprehensive modernization, the ARAbella process control system from STEBATEC was implemented and a new IT infrastructure installed. The wastewater treatment plant now benefits from more flexible, transparent and secure process control.
Challenges and goals of the project
Before the modernization, the wastewater treatment plant faced several challenges:
- Outdated control technology made adjustments and optimizations difficult.
- A lack of transparency in the process sequences made it difficult to react quickly to faults.
- High maintenance costs due to complex and partially outdated technology.
Project objectives – More control – less effort
The aim was to modernize the IT infrastructure, optimize processes and combine them with a process control system to ensure greater efficiency, more modern monitoring and a future-proof solution for reliable wastewater treatment.
Implementation: ARAbella as a central control system
With the introduction of the ARAbella process control system, a user-friendly, web-based platform was created that enables central control and monitoring of the wastewater treatment plant. The new control system has been seamlessly integrated and ensures precise control of all processes. ARAbella is much more than a classic process control system – it combines control, monitoring, documentation and operational support in one powerful software platform.
The most important improvements for the wastewater treatment plant:
- Intuitive operation: ARAbella’s modern user interface makes it easier to monitor and control processes.
- Real-time data analysis: All relevant plant data can be called up at any time – even on the move.
- Thanks to individually definable escalation levels, STEBalarm now ensures that faults always reach the right people – from the first notification to
emergency escalation – this ensures high plant availability and fewer downtimes - Flexibility & future-proofing: The control system can be easily adapted and expanded if requirements change.
